Medium:

Sculpture. Recycled materials including bike wheel, aluminum foil, and plastic objects. Paper. Acrylic paint.

"Overworked Body" is a sculpture that imagines the earth as a tired and sick body.

Every image on the outside is of a climate disaster that occurred in the area of the world it is placed on between 2015 and today. These climate disasters, be they floods, droughts, fires, or icecaps melting, are the "symptoms" of climate change, so to speak. They are the ways we feel the affects of the greater issue of the climate crisis we are living in.

The organs inside relate to the causes of climate change. Factory farming, the fast fashion industry, plastic production and overproduction in general are some of the things that culminate to create the climate crisis.

The climate change "symptoms" we see are often caused by much deeper issues at the root.

How can we heal our planet from these deeper causes,

instead only putting bandaids on the symptoms?
